Hi guys. I'm allowed 1800 calories a day. I ate 500 for breakfast and then took a long walk with the kids- burning 1300 calories. Well I got home and ate 900 and I now have a net of about 100.. But 1300 total consumed. Do I need to east more? Its 8:30pm.

  • If you're full, I wouldn't worry about it. Just don't make it a habit to be under your calorie goal, especially by a lot, and one day shouldn't hurt you!

Don't take this the wrong way, but, how did you burn 1300 calories walking with kids? Even if I walk a 4 mph pace I burn 370 / hr...that is like 4+ hours of walking....

Anyway, I try to eat at least my 1200 + half of my burn. So, if I burn 400 calories, I would eat at least 1400 for the day, so my answer would be yes, you need to eat more.
  • i'm sorry i have to ask... how long was this walk and how fast were you going? that's an absolutely incredible amount of calories burned.

I think that was a typo, in the calorie burned department . . . but nonetheless . . . if you're body is full, don't stress over it. Just make a habit of being aware of your calories and how much you burn, play with it, see how it pans out at the end of the week. If you're WAY under, for your weekly totals, bump it up a notch and so forth, until you've got it balanced. :0)

Um, I jumped over to your page, your diary is viewable. So my question is . . . How DID you burn 1300 calories in one walk? Just curious. I mean if you're pushing uphill a stroller full of 3 kids and walking briskly . . . I don't know, I've never burned that much in one stint of exercise. :0) Please share. :0)
  • I was also thinking that seemed like so many calories burned but if she is 300lb and walks for 3-4 hours the calories could be correct .
If you are not hungry - don't eat :o)

I have three kids and took a trip to the zoo. The zoo is over 2 miles away and were in the city so I walk up a giant hill all the way there pushing a double stroller with 50 plus pounds of toddlers in it and my 16 pound baby on a baby carrier. Then we walked around the zoo for about an hour And a half which is also half on a big hill so down hill part way and up hill the other way. Then we walked to the park (which I did quickly since it was downhill), played and then walked all the way home. I was walking for at least 3 1/2 hours (not including stopping at the hippo and tiger attraction) briskly and up hills for a good part of the time while pushing toddlers and carrying baby- makes me exhausted just to think about it.
