How many calories should I intake to exercise?

My recommended calorie per day is about 1200. I some times struggle to be even close to that. Most times I'm at 1000 per day. I exercise 4 days a week, burning an average of 700 calories each time. At the end of the day once all food and exercise is entered in, I'll have major intake calories left. Should I eat more on my work out days? That would put my over 2000 calories. Or should I keep the calorie deficit since I'm overweight? I still need to loose 40 lbs.

At the end of the day I don't finish up my calorie goal because I've maxed out on my carbs, fats, ect. How do you stay under your carb, fats, ect. limit if your maxed out but need more calories?0

MFP adds more of everything proportionally when you log exercise calories. If you log 300 calories burned during exercise, you will get back some carbs, fat, protein, etc based on the goals you've set.0

Oh ok, I just didn't notice a move at all in the carbs, fats, ect. other than the calories. Maybe something I need to do more in my workout routine to make those change?0

I try to eat more lean meat (skinless chicken), protein shakes, protein bars, veggies of all kinds, lite or fat free yogurts, hard boiled eggs, plain oatmeal and really look at how the calories break down after you enter in a food item. I'm just starting to add my food. I've never been much of a calorie counter but my Dr. is sending my to a nutritionist because I'm over weight. I was told it's all about your calorie intake. It also has to be the right kind of calories. I need more guidance on what a menu should look like for me.0
