Okay... so this isn't really a Trainer... but i have an app on my phone called Runtastic. and I love it... if you can keep a GPS signal (good Luck) it tracks distance, calories, and speed. But I love it more for its potential really...0

Depends on your feet-- if you have a shoe store nearby that does it, you might want to have your feet and/or stride analyzed to find out which shoes are best for you. Asics.com also has a shoe fit guide that will help you identify what kind of shoe you need. For me, ASICS have always been the best running shoes (right now, I have the 2150-- I overpronate a little bit, which caused knee pain until I found the right shoe fit), but there might be others that work just as well for you.0

If you plan on doing a lot of running, its well worth going to a proper running shop and getting them to analyse the way you run and sorting you out with the right pair as it makes all the difference. I see you`re in Coventry so I guess the "Up n Running" store in Birmingham wouldnt be too far away from you. http://upandrunning.co.uk/shops/birmingham.php0

LOL... sorry, I had to laugh because as an America, I interpreted "trainers" to mean professionals who will work with you to exercise and achieve your fitness goals, not athletic shoes... or "gym shoes" or "sneakers".
I can recommend Saucony and Brooks. I've had both for running and gym work and loved them. However, when I got properly fitted at a running store and brought in my old Sauconys for them to look at, they recommended Brooks. I never had any kind of breaking-in period for them, which is a first for me. I have a wide forefoot, narrow heels, and a fallen arch and the Brooks have been great for walking, running, and aerobics. I will say that I don't necessarily think they're terribly stylish and will admit that I'm still holding onto my Sauconys, which are now 10 years old, precisely b/c I love the style.
If you have a running store near you and you have the money, try them first. Otherwise, I got my recommendations from Runners' World magazine.0
