I thought that I had found a gem - Morningstar Spicy Chipotle Black Bean Burgers (1/4 Burger from Costco) until I looked at the Sodium content! I LOVE these burgers and I am nothing near being a vegetarian. In fact, this was the first attempt at incorporating a meatless meal into my diet. I'd even convinced the hubby to eat them, too.

They were so convenient to bring for lunch too - with my sandwich thins. :-(

Well, Ive got to reduce my sodium intake and hubby has high b.p.

So ...... anyone recommend an alternative with less sodium??

  • Nearly everything that's pre-packaged/processed is going to be high in sodium, unless it specifically says it's "low-sodium". Sorry.
  • you are better off shooting a deer, eating for free and finding a recipe that gets rid of that gamey taste....I have about 30lbs in my freezer and it's the only red meat I eat anymore unless it's an holiday. MUCH better for you and cheaper.

Well anything that's not "pure" and "clean" is technically not healthy BUT I think Morningstar are delish and I throw them into my diet often. I just try and minimize my sodium in all other areas if I know I'm gonna eat their products. Mind you, I don't eat THAT clean so heck...

As an alternative (if you want to buy the burgers instead of making them - also an option) Boca Grilled Vegetable Meatless Burgers.

    1 Burger:

    I think they're really delicious!!!!!!!
  • Vee, I love the Boca Chick'n patties! I would eat them before I started watching what I'm eating. Granted, back then, I'd add a slice of American cheese and Miracle Whip. So, that might have had something to do with it too.
