Hope everyone is working hard.

Yesterday I did about 1 hour on the elliptical and 90 minutes of yoga. Today is more elliptical and some walking. Still waiting on the back before weights. I could do some weights at home and just focus on my arms. Hmmm, maybe.

I read the shred post. I have two hard ones from my boot camp class that sound similar to the shred. 1. stand, bend down, jump to plank, push-up, jump to forward bend, jump up to standing - do this for one minute. I usually skip the jump up to standing, I'm just not there yet. 2. take a step with four risers, straddle the step and place the hands on either side so you are on all fours with the feet on the ground and hands on the step. Now jump up on the step and jump down for one minute. Looks easy and fun - isn't. For advanced users (not me), jump over the step from side to side, for beginners (me after about 30 seconds) walk up on to the step and back down.

I read while eating yesterday - but it's not on my chart yet, so that's ok.

Happy sweating!

Mary

Oh, I'm considering getting this done:
    http://www.edb.utexas.edu/fit/bodycompfit.php

it's kind of expensive compared to a caliper or scanner test - anyone have an opinion?

    Good Morning!

Mary -- be careful with the weights...as a back surgery survivor, let me just say there is no rush! Wait until you feel 100% and then wait some more. That scan does seem very comprehensive. How expensive is expensive? And what would you gain by getting it done? Just curious.

I'm still on my perpetual cloud of happiness over here...the love of my life is coming to town this week to play against the Dodgers and I can't wait to see him...

    Yesterday:
~ Did Jillian Shred 2, burned 300 calories. Wow!
    ~ Walked/ Ran for 20 minutes
    ~ Took my vitamins

    Today:
~ Grueling Power Sculpt class -- this is the one with the cardio bursts that sound remarkably similar to the move Mary described above....owwww.
~ Keep within my calories and keep them healthy
    ~ Take my vitamins
~ RELAX! My heart is pounding. Deep breaths.

So, WL - are you on the Bridget Jones diet now?

The scan would give me a body fat % for each major part of my body: trunk %, leg %, etc. It cost $90, which isn't that bad, but more than the average test.

Hey all. Did the Level 2 Shred again. I really like it and combine it with a daily walk or bike ride. I guess we will see in 30 days!

If by that you mean can't eat, can't sleep, constantly sweating and my heart is pounding and I drift around in a state of constant euphoria...then YES!!!!

I just had a short walk from the subway, and if the rain holds off I'll take another one later (I do better when walking has a destination).

If the rain comes, I'll do a dance DVD.

I'm considering investing in some serious body comp/RMR testing, but I'm having trouble figuring out where to have it done. I've called a couple of universities, and I get a "wait. . .. what?" sort of response, but I'll keep trying.

The one at UT is called DEXA (dual energy x-ray absorptiometry) - I don't know if that helps. I'll probably do it once summer session starts (next week).

Urgh, day #3 no exercise. I finally consumed 1,000 calories though, so maybe tomorrow I'll have more energy. I know you're all going to laugh at me, but we hit 85 here today (avg June weather is 70s) so on top of feeling blah, the heat is making me even less hungry.

My exciting news is that I found my arrival/orientation outfit tonight. It's a black sequined ttank top with a satin umpire belt and pink hot pants. It's sooooo cute! (see pic in profile) Keep in mind pink & black are the pageants colors.

Here's to friday & a new chance to get back on track! :drinker:

Oh, viva, try asking for the exercise physiology/exercise science/sports medicine departments... you should have some luck to at least find someone who can direct you the right way
