Need suggestions for a good HRM

So, I thought getting a heart rate monitor would be easy but it seems when I searched on amazon.com there is quite a spread in prices/brands of these. Can anyone suggest a good one or if it's better to spend the extra money rather than buy a cheap one? Any suggestions would be appreciated!! Thanks!

I bought a cheap one from Walmart as it's the only place in town that sells them. I HATE it. It worked for 2 days and now it won't even track my heart rate or my calories burned....I say the extra money for a good one is worth it because I got burned buying a cheap one and now I'm going to have to spend more money for a better one....

I have just got my first HMR and there are soo many out there isn't there! I know everyone on here loves polars, but to be honest, I dont havethe money - I got a sigma pc15 and am not disapointed - its great for the money too. It cost around £40 and has great features in my opinion...

It comes with a cheast strap and all batteries can be replacesd easily yourself which is worth considering..

I love my HRM. It's a Polar F6. It's nice because it's designed for women, so the watch band is pink (I think you can get black if you want) and is slimmer. The band is comfortable and easy to replace. I have lost my band (the one that goes around your chest) twice and was able to get replacemnt ones quickly. The only thing is sometimes you have to get the chest strap wet under the heart rate moniter to get it to connect. Also, if you do order it, careful of the sizing. I am a size 36 around the chest, but the xs-small would have been way to small. I would get the larger size. Hope that helps! Oh, I have had mine for like two years and it has never broken!

I have a Timex Zone Trainer that I purchased from Ebay. It has a chest strap and does keep up with calories burned. I love it! I didn't have the money for a Polar either and I did consider the fact that you have to send Polars off to change the batteries. It's been awhile since I bought mine so I don't remember exactly, but the cost was between $25-40. Again, I love it and it does the job for me. Never had a problem with it. (And I think most chest straps you do have to wet a tiny bit before putting them on to insure a good connection).

I also suggest a Polar, I had an F-6 in the past and have an F-11 now and loved them both.
