Does everyone enter exercise?

Hello. I am new at this and have a question about exercise.... If I enter my exercise then my allowed calories for the day increase. If I then eat more but stay under the total for the day, will I still lose weight? Or am I shooting myself in the foot by eating the extra calories afforded me by exercising? Or am I better off not entering the exercise ( but still doing it) so that I will force myself to stay under my normally alloted calories? Any suggestions? I really want to do this right (this time!) and would be happy losing consistently one pound per week the right way. I appreciate any suggestions.

I enter all my exercise. But don't usually eat the extra calories. It seems to be working for me. FINALLY0

Welcome! Here are some great threads about how MFP works (there's a built-in cal deficit, regardless of exercise), metabolism and eating exercise cals. MUST READS!

I'd recommend logging everything and trying to meet cal goals (ie eat some, if not most, exercise cals.) But keep in mind that if you use the exercise listed in the database, it is sometimes a bit high on cals burned. So you may want to use a HRM to get a more accurate count.0 -
i dont enter all my exercise like playing tag and stuff with my daughter.I also dont add cleaning that should be a daily thing anyway. But if i do a exercise for more than 10 mins i will then add it.And you dont need to eat all but try to eat half the extra calories if your set at 1200 a day eat back all you exercise calories.0

Absolutely, I believe you have to in order to get as much as you can out of this site. I log EVERY exercise EVERY day. I also never eat the extra calories... in my opinion that's more to lose and burn off. I try to stay around my limit of 1200 (usually it's only around 1000) even if through exercise it increases to 1600. I want to lose as much as I can, so I'm not going to eat the calories just b/c they're allotted to me. Good luck!0

Enter your exercise and then you can eat some of those extra calories back. Some days I eat them all, sometimes I eat just half.0
