Hi! My name is Emily and I'm new to MFP. I learned about MFP from a blog I saw on Tumblr. I signed up over Christmas break but kind of let it go by the wayside. However, I am now back at school for a new semester and, with the help of my wonderful roommates, I am on a journey to get healthy.

My ultimate goal is to get to a healthy weight, which using the BMI chart should be about 140lbs. I am currently at 270lbs so I know it will be a long road ahead but I'm really excited about getting healthy.

So far I've been on for about a week and while I haven't lost weight yet, simply changing my diet to healthier foods has made me feel better. I already have more energy and just an overall better feeling.

My roommates and I love to cook so we've had a lot of fun finding new healthy recipes to create. I have tried so many new vegetables this week and I absolutely love them :)

While I have the wonderful support of my roommates I would love to meet new people who are on health journeys as well so perhaps we can exchange recipe ideas, fun workouts, or just share stories as we go. Can't wait to meet you :)

Hi, welcome! I've just joined recently too. Everyone here is great and supportive!
  • Hello! I am also new to MFP, just starting my my journey to lose 120 pounds. Would love to see some of those recipes! Right now I am enjoying my fruits and veggies raw or steamed, but I KNOW that's going to get old soon.

How WONDERFUL it is that you have such an amazing support network IRL. And now you have a great support network online, too
  • Welcome Treble, I have been here for a whole 3 weeks! So it is vry new to me as well. I do like the app that lets me take it where ever I go. It makes it very easy when I am ordering out somewhere to see exactly what the best food choices for me are.

One of my room mates actually signed up for weight watchers which is where we've been getting most of our recipes. For instance we made Chicken, Rice and Spinach soup for lunch and for dinner we're going to try Shrimp over Angel Hair Pasta. We've also made some of our favorite traditional recipes healthier by using things like ground turkey in our tacos (we had those last night and they were sooo good! you couldn't even tell they weren't beef!). Another thing that we have found helpful is to invite more friends over for dinner. It's easier to keep portion sizes under control when there are more people eating :D
