Low carb diets are generally very low on calories unless you are eating like ALOT of meat which of course will hurt your heart and liver. The Grapefruit diet for example is only 800 calories and the foods you eat are identical to Atkins.

Feel free to do the low-carb thing but in a safe way. Just set your goals to 45% or less carbs and then you can balance everything better and actually lose weight.

Problem with Atkins is its so restrictive when you eventually eat normally again (healthy normal that is) you'll gain it all back.

It's NEVER a good idea to cut a food group out of your system.

Yea Atkins is tricky to manage well at the best of times, but with a Jillian Michaels workout (those are fairly intense, yes?) you almost certainly are not getting enough calories.

Atkins is not restrictive. You slowly add back in all foods - except it shouldn't be processed foods, should be whole foods.

And the meat will not hurt the heart or the liver. These are well known out right non-truths about Atkins.

    To the original poster:

    Are you drinking enough water?

    Are you eating enough vegetables?

Have you started climbing the carb ladder as per Phase 2: Ongoing weight loss?
