I have an appointment on Wednesday night with a personal trainer. Any words of encouragement/wisdom?

I did the same thing back in October and it has been an awesome experience. If you are going to be meeting with the trainer on a regular basis, it gives you the accountability. Also, having someone there to push you to your limits is a good feeling. I hope you like it, I enjoy mine:)0

Listen to the trainor! BUT remember you didn't get heavy in a day & look for long term results not short term. Anything your not willing to do long term will probably not last! Shoot for a balance & a healthy lifestyle for the rest of your life. Good Luck!0

Trainers are an awesome asset! They will push you harder than you will push yourself! I wish I could afford one like 4 times a week. However, if you can only afford one for a couple sessions a month - get an upper body workout one session, then a lower body the next. Meet with them again in a month to change it up. Strength training is an integral part of this journey. However, get there 10-15 minutes early so you can warm your muscles up with some cardio - you don't want to waste your training time! Good luck, and let me know how it goes!
PS
If this is your first time ever doing any kind of weight training - you will be sore! But as gaining strength feels GREAT!0 -
Getting a trainer is the best thing I've ever done for myself. It keeps me accountable, and I push myself a lot harder when I work out with her.
I don't know how often you will meet with your trainer; for me, once a week is perfect. At the end of each session she makes me outline the rest of my workouts for the week.
One tip: Remember that you may not be able to do all exercises perfectly the first time. It takes practice. But hang in there- some of my favorite exercises today are the ones I couldn't get my head around at first.
Good luck!0 -
Just remember everything takes time so don't get discouraged if the weight doesn't come off right away...It took me 2 yrs to get where I'm at...I didn't work with a trainer I actually asked a lady who became my best friend who worked out for years and became my partner...You take what you learn from the trainer and read up on other workouts and see what works for you..Because what works for some people may not work for you...that's what I learned it's trial and error but it'll work...If you need help let me know I'll do my best to answer any questions you have...0

I worked out with my best friend last year and I called her my trainer. We put together workout plans and held each other accountable. It was great because we are friends, so I didn't feel intimidated or self conscious (plus the gym was in her house). I don't know this trainer, I feel a little nervous.
I guess I am just looking to get some motivation from the trainer and some new techniques. I am doing some weight training on my own currently, but I know I definitely need someone to push me to work harder.
Hopefully, my friend and I can resume our workouts. She had my arms looking GOOD. HAHA!0 -
I survived my personal training tonight. It was great! I sweat like crazy!
I signed up for a boot camp starting next month, so that's my next fitness goal - to actually go and finish the camp (4 weeks).
I haven't seen any more weight loss yet, but I have noticed that my tummy is flatter and my waist has shrunk a little.
Best of all - I feel upbeat and energized. WOO HOO!!0
