I'm Connie,
I'm trying yet again to get the weight off. This has been an ongoing problem since i was a child. I can say its in my genes... hereditary... whatever but i have learned over the years there is no quick fix. I have considered the surgical route...and would have but insurance wouldnt cover it. I dont want to take pills as i know they r unhealthy and only work for a time and the weight comes back. I have learned that a healthy lifestyle is the only way. You have to exercise and eat sensibly. Now ... how do i have enough discipline to do that? I have to stop hiding the fact that im trying to lose weight. I do that so when i fail i wont b embarrassed again. I set myself up for failure by doing this. I need a network of ppl who support me in my efforts. I'm trying so hard to get control of this. The cold weather doesnt help cuz it keeps me inside instead of letting me out to do one of my favorite forms of exercise... walking. Anyway. I would b grateful for any input and support... ideas that any one out there has. Maybe we can help each other. Thanks... feel free to email me at . angellredd@yahoo.com... i will answer any email sent. have a blessed day.

Welcome and I was the same as you. Hiding the fact that I was dieting so i could quit without guilt. Not anymore. I have connected MFP with FB so now EVERYONE knows. LOL Friend me if you wish.
  • Hi Connie,
There sure isnt a quick fix, if there was we'd all be skinny, but unfortunately like a lot of us the battle to lose weight is an endless saga..ive tried all the diets, cabbage soup, weight watchers, slimming world, but none have ever worked or lasted long enough for me to think yay! that worked..ive had my colon cleaned in an effort to try + rid all the toxins in my body + have always thought bout surgery but there are so many horror stories that i think i will have to do it the hard way..i have however got a goal in my life, i am getting married next year + as i already have my dress i need to lose at least 3 stone for it to feel nice on..it is all down to yourself as a person but also this site does help as you can keep track of everything you put in your mouth + track exercise..i only exercise once a week at the minute as i dont have the energy to do anymore but as soon as my energy gets better then i shall go more often..i do have a good network of friends + a very supportive boyfriend so i do find it easier to tackle..youre welcome to add me on here as a friend + we can help each other out,
    Debs :)
  • Hi Connie,

I'm on here just because i'm interested in my health and just wanna keep tract of it, i love my running and basically any form of exercise so I haven’t got the problem you have but… ive got a really good friend that has got your problem, she’s asked me to hep her and keep her motivated.
One thing I found with her is that you need to find something you enjoy to do! Go dancing, if you don’t have anyone to go with you could buy an exercise/dancing dvd to follow so when everybody is out the house, shut the curtains and just go for it.
I just joint this app/website and I really think if you put everything on your daily diary it will work for you! Just keep going!!!

    Hope you keep going
  • hey connie !!
you are right about the pills , with weight comming back afterwards. id suggest little energy boosters so you can get out there and push yourself a little more then usual. with the weather being so cold out, i have the same prob, its freezing here in halifax. a couple of nights ago i watched a movie and didnt want to sit so instead i jogged on spot and speed walked in place alternating between knee highs and butt kicks. then all of a sudden realisedwhen the movie was done that i had been doing it for 2 hours without noticing , i dont know if you understand the basics on weight loss so ill give you the fundamentals.
    1: each 3500 cals burned will = 1 lb
2: if you diet alone you will lose weight but you will be losing beneficial muscle and bone tissue so regular excersise is a must!
3: do cardio between 30-60 mins for 3-4 time a week at yout target heart rate for fat loss
to find you target heart rate, do this simple equation ; 220 - your age = max heart rate take your max heart rate and multiply by 50 % to giv you your minimum target heart weight and then take your max heart rate and multiply with 70% to get your max target heart rate .
4: optimal fat loss will be achieved by doing cardio at your THR . if you do cardio lower then your min THR or higher then your THR then you are NOT burning fat you are trainning your heart.
    5: strenght train 30 mins 2-3 /week
6: do not shy away from weight lifting because more lean muscle on your body means more cals you can intake without gainning fat . also muscles burn calories while working out but also while resting . so lift away !!
    hopefully this helps a little.
