I've been working out since January 2nd and so far I've only lost about 3-5 pounds (I don't know my starting weight, to be honest).
I have not lost any fat along the waist either as far as I know. My workout routines consist of walking on the treadmill (usually 2.5 mph to 3.0 mph) and Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred, and my nutrition varies as my family doesn't really do vegetables daily. I do try to eat some kind of vegetables during the day though. I drink plenty of water, although not 8 cups I usually drink 6 cups per day. I workout at least for an hour a day, and that's about it. I seem to be making very little progress in a great amount of time.
Does anyone have any tips they can share? I'm planning on just starting my weight journey over again to be sure about my starting weight...:/
sigh...

This really depends on your starting weight. If you're 100lbs, you're probably going to lose weight very slowly when compared to someone who's 300lbs. Also, while walking is great (don't get me wrong), it doesn't do too much in terms of cardio/heart elevation or fat burning. I'm surprised the 30-day shred hasn't done anything for you - did you do it every day?
Remember that weight loss is 80% diet, 20% exercise. If you're eating more than you're burning, you won't see a change on the scale. Weigh yourself - it's important!0 -
Trust me I feel your pain....I seem to be losing about a pound a week and I feel like i have changed my eating life drastically. I do feel better than I have in months though adding more fruits and veggies to my diet.
Good luck and keep it up....I know after some time you will see some changes and that will give you some motivation0 -
Just weigh yourself in the morning and put that as your starting weight. Your family doesn't have to eat veggies - you need to. Just add them to your meal while you're cooking. A side of zucchini, green beans, something.....it's better than nothing. Drink 8 glasses of water a day. I keep a water bottle with me and just refill from the tap. If you want it to taste like something other than water, throw a Crystal Light on the go pack in there with 20 oz and you've got lemonade or whatever for 10 calories. And do some measurements. Sometimes you're losing inches and the loss of pounds isn't showing on the scale right away. Don't be discouraged. I've been doing this for about 4 weeks and have lost 7 pounds. The slower it comes off, the healthier you're taking it off. :flowerforyou:0

That is one pound per week which is what is recomended, if you want to keep the weight off. Give yourself a break and keep up the good work!0

I think you are being to hard on yourself. Some progress is better than NO progress. Give your body some time to adjust. I would suggest working on those things you identified as lacking - veggies, water. Little steps, don't give up.0

I would say try eating a really big breakfast and eat more time during the day, Fruits like apples and grapes during the day will keep your metobolism up and running. And by doing that your body will start to run and feel better, Just keep up with the exercise and you will def start to see results.0

believetoachieve: I'm totally new to the exercising for 2011, haha. This is why I'm taking it easy and starting off with a power-walk, because I just can't run at all right now, I'm probably likely to fall flat on my face after 1 minute or less.
As for Jillian Michael's, trying to do it every other day unless my knees are fine, then I tend to do it everyday however, I just got into the DVD this week, most of the time, I've been power-walking. Could that be it, maybe?
CarolHudson11: We have like, absolutely no vegetables at my house right now, which is quite disheartening since we went shopping just a few days ago... .____. I think we do have some frozen vegetables but mom never cooks them, which makes me mad. I'm about to cook them myself.
Also everyone, thank you for the tips and advice, I will definitely try those out once I actually get to go to the store. It seems like we have so much junk in the house and we have absolutely no green vegetables or fruits which I've been dying to take to lunch with me.0 -

That's the right approach better walking than sitting, right? As you get stronger, you can increase your exercise. It doesn't need to be running necessarily. If you're walking, try to tackle hills or incorporate stairs also.
I started the dvd a short time ago, I finished day 5 today. I'm doing it everyday like she says, and already I found that I lost .5" off my thighs and 1" off my "muffin top", lol. Even though I've been dieting for about 2 weeks, I've only lost 3lbs. Take measurements, it REALLY helps keep you motivated when the scale doesn't move. Try to do as intense exercise as you can handle - it's important to build muscle at this stage!0 -
Anything is totally better than sitting around, haha~
Yup! What I'm trying to do for now is do Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred every day, and at least 30 minutes on the treadmill every day.
I'm still trying to learn how to walk XD;; so today I had to do 2.5 mph for 20 min. I only hope that I'll slowly get there with time.
I'll take your advice thank you!0
