Anyone using a pedometer to measure progress? My employer is providing one for a 10,000 step challenge. Any success with this method?

Hi,
I have recently started using my pedometer again and love it. It is motivating to get moving (which I guess is really important) and challenging yourself.
There is a website I used to use which you can track your steps and it takes you around a country or city in steps, depending on what challenge you put in. Site is www.walkingwithattitude.com
I remember reading that people who use a pedometer will have a better chance of succeeding with fitnes goals.0
