I dont' know if it is related to running, but running is my main form of exercise and I found weight loss very slow going.
Some of it matters how much weight to lose and how much you are building muscle.
I didn't have a ton to lose, was already in a normal BMI so.. my weight loss is slow. 7 lbs in 3 months.
But, my legs are more toned, my butt muscles stronger, and my endurance a lot greater. Running is awesome!
keep at it, you might try eating only half of your exercise calories for a week or two and see if that helps, and if not, you might try eating a little more than you think you should. Everyone is different.. just try to work it out! I'd give it a solid month before you get frustrated. Make sure you are doing some high intensity stuff mixed in (hills, sprints and the like) to really get your heart rate up, not just jogging.0 -
Agreed. If you're running for weight loss, it will help you to do intervals. Try walking for a few minutes, then jogging for let's say 5, then walk for a minute, then back to jogging. It does help to vary your heart rate if weight loss is the goal. There are some good articles on runnersworld.com on weight loss.
Good luck and enjoy all the wonderful benefits of running!0 -
I definitely didn't see a quick or significant weight change with running. I log an average of 25 miles per week and it wasn't until I started weigh training that I saw a drop in my weight.
anything you read though will say that running is the best overall exercise for calorie burn, so stick with it! It took me close to three months to see a significant change in my body. do you do any weight training? I am a wimp so I do the body pump class at the gym and that really keeps me going.
Sidebar - I love running and don't do it for weight loss, i just do it for the thrill, acheivement, endurance, stamina, energy that it provides!0 -
I had the same experience. I think that your body is adjusting to your exercise. After I started running and was really watching my calories, I began to lose 1lb/week consistently. I think if you stick with it, you're going to see results. GL!0

It's not a race, it's a marathon. Stick with it!!0
