Trail Mix Snack

So, I LOVE trail mix...... however, it is HIGH in calories! A serving size is only 3 tbsp (which is about 3 nuts lol). So if I were to eat even the smallest bit it takes a ton of my daily caloric intake......
Isn't it better to snack on nuts and raisins rather than some of the absolute crap out there I could be eating? How does this off-set my calorie intake?
Any input?

I absolutely love the stuff also. I like the box from Costco with the preportioned sleeves...It makes it easier to stop with just a small amount and feel satisfied. However I stopped eating them because they are high in calories but if you need a treat to calm a sweet tooth it probably a great choice because of the real nutrition in it rather processed junk.
  • Some people believe a calorie is a calorie no matter what. Meaning calories from doughnuts are the same as from apples. I don't subscribe to that notion one bit! A healthy calorie (like those found in nuts and dried fruit) is better for you than a calorie from a big-mac!

As long as your burning that energy you'll be good. Trail mix is a calorie-dense food but you could try and "cut" it so-to-speak, by adding less calorie dense foods like popcorn or dried veggies.

Or if your just looking for something to much on, a ziplock baggie of fresh veggies has the same satisfying crunch at a fraction of the calories!

I know this thread is a little old but for anyone that's searching, I wanted to update with a store bought trail mix that I found and LOVE. Great Value Good Health Energy Trail mix is yummy and has NO SODIUM. It does have a bit of sugar only because it contains dried cranberries. I think it would be even better with bits of some good dark chocolate but that would increase the calorie count of course. Just wanted to share for anyone out there searching.
