Under Calorie Goal

I've been trying to eat 1200 calories per day. I've been working off about 300 calories per day. I'm 5'8 and 142 (if it matters)
I know that I'm supposed to be having 1200 net calories, but will my body go into starvation mode if i eat around 1200 and net around 900?
I find myself eating more than I want to to fill my calorie goal at the end of the day. I honestly feel like I'm eating more now that I'm counting calories. I am eating healthier now that I'm keeping track. Could I be filling up faster because I am eating more healthful foods?
I am worried about my body freaking out from not eating enough and immediately storing all my food as fat, but I'm just not hungry. What should I do?

Don't worry about it. Especially if you've just started counting calories it takes time to adjust. It seems pretty common that when people try to eat really healthy for the first time they undershoot their goal. You'll get used to it and start eating on target, but in general you'll have high and low days, so don't stress out too much about either!
If you *really* want to hit that magic number, try snacking on some high cal healthy foods like nuts, dried fruit (avoid the kind with tons of sugar), or drink a glass of milk.0
