Achilles Tendinitis

I've been running for the past several months, until I've been comfortably doing about 3 miles a few days a week for the past 2 weeks. Today I got a terrible pain in my lower calf above my heel that comes with all the symptoms that describe this problem...
Does anybody have any experience with this and any tips for how to heal it quickly/what kind of cardio I can do while I'm waiting for it to heal? I don't want to lose my running fitness!
