Am I imagining things?

I usually just shoot hoops for an hour at the gym before I work out. I selected the option "shooting hoops" and it said for 90 minutes of shooting hoops I burned 650 Calories. Is that accurate?? Or should I buy a heart rate moniter?

Probably a Heart Rate Monitor. I know MFP would state walking the dogs for like 30 mins or so was 100+ calories, but my HRM stated 80. So maybe HRM for accuracy?

I would invest in a HRM. They tend to be more accurate than MFP as they can be programmed with more info AND take your heart rate into consideration. MFP can't factor in HR so it's off. 650 sounds like a lot.....even for an all out b-ball match.....

Both, lol. I use a heart rate monitor (or the one on the elliptical at the gym) and have found that on some exercises what MFP tells me is close to what the heart rate monitor tells me, but on others it's way higher.

For sure a heart rate monitor if you care about an accurate number. Almost all the exercises I ever put in are higher calorie burns than my monitor says.
