Hey everyone! I just went to my first Boxing class last night, and it was the best workout that I have ever had! I know what some of you are thinking. You think that you're not in good enough shape to try it. There were a lot of people there who were over weight ( I'm 30 lbs overweight), It was a good break from the gym. If you are the least bit interested you should check out your local boxing club!

I love boxing and kickboxing. I am still 50 lbs overweight and can do it, so anyone can do it. It's definately a calorie scorcher!! In fact I have a boxing class tonight and have been looking forward to it all day long!!!

Boxing helped me 100% lose my first 50 lbs. I love it. and its the ONLY thing I miss from moving away from 'the city' ... It was my saving grace in a real dark time in my life. I still have dreams about it I miss it so much ...

All the twisting, will REALLY get rid of your gut! - I did it for 2 years religiously 3 times a week, and was diong 80 push ups (with gloves on) by the second year!

Its the best thing Ive ever done, wish Id discovered it in my younger days so I could better learn the trade and compete. I started at a local boxing gym during the football offseason as a way to keep my fitness up, however, 12 months later Boxing has now taken priority over my football!

Its hard to explain what it offers, but heres what I get from it:

    - Cardio
    - Stamina
    - Strength
    - Explosive Power
    - Hand & Eye coordination
    - Reflexes
    - Mental Strength & Determination
    - Stress management
    - Speed
    - A new technical skill and challenge (Ive been playing football that long its easy........ boxing is unchartered ground for me in terms of learning technique)!

I'm lucky to be at a good gym where they make sure that intensity never drops in your sessions, even after so long I still have sessions where I feel I am going to faint or puke (or both). Especially when they wheel out the tractor tyre and sledgehammer........... punishment!

There is no greater feeling than when you finish a session.
  • I agree...I did boxing for years and I absolutely loved it! I still try to do it once a week when I'm not training for my races to pump up my upper body...it rocks! Great job! =)
  • oh yeah! punches are such a great way to get your heart rate up!
