Confused with net calories

Hi there,
The other day I saw a post talking about net calories, and how the person wasn't watching the net calories, and noticed she was putting herself in the starvation mode. I never noticed the net calories until this was mentioned, but I'm not sure how that works. I know might sound silly, I just don't understand it. Can anyone help explain this? Thanks

Net calories = Calories eaten - exercise calories. So if you eat 1200 calories, and burn 200 walking, your net calories are 1000 and you should eat more.0
