When does weight loss go from water to actual weight?

So I know when you first start dieting or changing your lifestyle you will lose a lot of water weight... but I'm wondering when do you stop losing that water weight and start losing actual weight? I want to know when I can start being proud of myself rather than thinking its just water :-) thanks!

Once you're losing like, 1-2 lbs per week, it will be mostly fat, but also muscle and water. This is why it's important to exercise while dieting because you lose muscle when you lose weight. You want to build up your muscle because you're constantly losing it.

I don't know when weight loss becomes "real," but I do know that you can start being proud of yourself NOW because you're here. :) I don't know if the 4 pounds I've lost so far are just water weight, but I'm thrilled about it anyway because it represents a downward trend instead of the upward trend of the past four years. ;)

I know what you mean...but there's really no real answer to that. But, my advice to you is not to let the scale determine if you are proud of yourself or not. Every time you quit eating after a single serving, instead of eating the entire bag...be proud of yourself. Every time you exercise instead of watching TV...be proud of yourself. Be proud of the changes you are making and soon the scale will confirm it...

If that doesn't make you feel any better, just be proud of EVERY pound...water or not, it was taking up space and now it's not.
