I usually do a good job in keeping under my calorie goal but i often seem to go over in the other areas such as carbs or sugar. Which one is more important to watch? With so many things to keep track of, it can get very confusing :noway:

Carbs are the main ones I would think....but watching things like sugar, fat and salt are very important as well

For me it's not just about losing weight, it's also about eating healthy....

So I would take a good look at the sugary foods you are eating, and try to make better choices.
  • Really watch that you don't go over carbs, if the sugar amount is from fresh fruit, then I wouldn't worry too much about it. It's the added sugar in our food that you need to watch. I'm never over my carbs but I'm always over my sugar because of my 2 servings of fruit a day. If the sugar in your fruit is too much try switching fruits that are lower in sugar such as grapefruit and apples.

It depends. Everyone works on different ratios for carbs/protein/fat. I'm on 50/25/25 so I can eat a lot of carbs and still lose weight... but that's me... I burn at least 500 calories everyday at least 4x/week so I can eat a lot of carbs. I also wait tables so I'm constantly burning calories. Just find what works for you. If you see you're still losing fine with going over on those things, you could probably raise your ratio of carbs and be fine. But like others said, if your sugar is natural - honey, fruits, agave, etc. - then don't worry about it. But if it's fake sugar or added sugar such as in bread or ice cream or whatever, that's when you should be concerned.
