I'm a runner and that is my love but I'm thinking about cross training by doing the p90x maybe 1 or 2 times per week to tone up...
Will I get any benefits from doing it only that often??
And if so...which ones would best for me to do? Or just mix it up?

Thanks :)

  • P90x is good I like Crossfit myself same theory but I also get some running in there. I am in the army and we tend to use stuff like p90x and crossfit it's a great program I like it.

Any resistance training adding to your routine would be great. The resistance training DVD's in P90X are called
    1. Chest & Back
    2. Shoulders & Arms
    3. Leg & Back
    4. Chest Shoulders & Triceps
    5. Back & Biceps.
Now do legs and back every week as 1 of your resistance training and then plug in the others as a rotation to hit all the muscle groups. That's what I'd do.
Like week 1 Chest & Back and Legs and Back
Week 2 Shoulders & Arms and Legs and Back
Week 3 Chest Shoulders & Triceps and Legs and Back
    OR
When you get the program follow the lean routine and sub the 4 cardio days with your running.

Should I really do legs if I'm doing all that running too??!

I would. In the normal P90X schedule you are doing Plyometrics and Kenpo which incorporates a lot of kicking and jumping which can pound the legs. Building your leg muscles can actually help you with your running anyway.
