traditional scales vs digital scales?

I've been using a traditional scale since the beginning and it seems to be consistant. I wanted to get a digital to get my exact weight, so I bought one this past weekend and it is totally off! I don't know if I got a defect or what. My traditional scale reads 166. My digital read 195, then 177, then 160, then 185! I changed the bateries and everything..ready to take it back. =(

I have both ( one in each bathroom). My traditional scales reads that I am a couple of lbs smaller than what the digital one reads but because I started with the digital, I go by that one. My digital scale is very sensitive, the slighest move or bump will through it off. I can reset mine by stepping on it with one foot, and immediately getting off. A reading of 0.0 will come across the screen, then a series of 0000. Then I weight myself until a get three consecutive reads in a row.0
