What do you consider a low calorie meal?

Just finished my daily entries and I got to wondering what everyone considered a "Low Calorie" meal. I am talking about a regular, sit down meal that the whole family can enjoy.
I may be way off, but I start to panic when I see it go over 500 calories.

I'm in that same boat. @ 500 calories for 3 meals I am still almost 1000 calories short for the day.0 -
Depends on your allowance for the day. For me, brkfst 300, lunch 300, dinner, 400. That's to fit my 1200 cal allowance. My hubby is 6'2'', 380lbs. He is dropping weight like there is no tomorrow and his allowance currently is 2000 cals. His breakfast is 400, lunch, 400, dinner 500-600, plus snacks. So I don't think 500 is a huge number, but it's all about proportion. I have also had some big meals for dinner myself, but they are preplanned events, like steak in the summer with corn and drippin butter and baked potato with salad and dessert....oh my.... Now i'm hungry0

I don't really know what's low calorie yet. Things that I think would be healthy have a ton of calories in them. I was looking at granola bars today, and those were 170 a pop. So that freaked me out. I meandered my way on over to the nut area, and 1 little ounce of nuts, even "healthy" planters nutrition nuts, were between 150 and 170 a serving. And it's a tiny serving. I looked up some "low-calorie" meals on foodnetwork, and I saw a low calorie pasta meal with 584 calories and I almost gagged. I think if I knew what a reasonable amount was, I wouldn't be so scared of everything I eat.0
