Extra Skin?!? TMI worries

So I have been watching A&E's new series Heavy. This week the woman weighed quite a bit more than me, but she had a similar body type. She had, what I refer to as "the kangaroo pouch" or my "fatty pack," a large section of fat between her belly button and her groin. This is my most hated area on my body, and it was hers too. She was really kicking butt and losing a lot of weight but that fatty section would not go away. They decided to get her surgery to have it removed. Mind you, again her's was a lot bigger than mine, but that is a big issues for me. I would never go under the knife for that surgery, not that I could afford it anyway but I HATE that damn stretch mark covered fatty section....hate it with a passion... What if it never goes away? What if, by some miracle of God, I reach my goal and I still have that fatty pooch? OR what if the fat goes away and the skin just hangs there?? Ugh.... I really don't know what would be worse!!
Anyone out there know what I'm talking about? Does it get better? Does it go away or does it just sit there defiantly harassing you everyday?

OMG!!!! I was thinking about the same exact thing when I was watching it! I have the same body type as her. I have about 60 lbs to go. I really hope my "second stomach" goes away. I do not want excess skin either :(

This totally depends on your body, genetics, and how you lose the weight. It may disappear, or it may be there forever (in which case, surgery is your only option). Surgery isn't that bad - I had a breast reduction done and it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting. :flowerforyou: Ultimately though, you're getting stronger and healthier - which is what's important!

    Edit: for a typo :blushing:
  • I will say I have one as well. As I have lost 72lbs already it has gotten smaller. I also do targeted exercises to help reduce the size of it. I am looking forward to the day it is totally gone. I hope that as the weight goes down, so does it.

I've resigned myself to the fact that I am going to *need* a tummy tuck. After 2 c-sections (and excessive weight gain with my 2nd child) my skin is a hanging, saggy mess. That is the part of my body that I am the most insecure about. I can deal with stretch marks, but not with the shar pei looking skin. I'm hoping to lose all the extra weight by the end of the summer and have the excess skin removed in Dec.
