need exercise advice with a sciatic nerve problem

I'd been doing quite well with moderate exercise and using myfitnesspal to help with controlling my diet. I lost weight and got to where I'm happy. Now for the last 6 weeks I haven't been able to exercise because of a nagging sciatic nerve. Does anyone know some good exercises that I could do that won't add to the problem?? I'm trying to eat OK, but without exercise I've gained almost 5 pounds. I don't want this to continue. Any advise out there?

There is a yoga pose called the pigeon pose. Look into it. I'm a massage therapist, and I suggest it as a stretch for them on a regular basis. Also, stand clost to a wall, and cross one leg over the other and lean your hip to the side that is your weight bearing leg. Getting close to the wall gives a better stretch. Or...Get a massage! LOL. Good luck0
