Looking to buy an accurate yet inexpensive one that will also let me know calories burned. Any suggestions?

I am in the same boat. But I refuse to spend over $100 on one. That is just crazy for something so simple. I am heading to Di*ks sporting goods this weekend to see what I can find.

Get a POLAR brand one and make sure it has a chest strap. I found one for a friend yesterday online for $59 plus free shipping! I can't remember the website but if you google it I bet it'll come up! I paid $150 for mine about 5 years ago and it still works great! Only had to change the battery once so far!

I use to work at Di*k's when I was in college and that's where I got mine! They only have the nicer, more pricey models there. I think online will be the only place to find "cheaper" ones! Just sayin' :)

You can pick any brand, but I usually recommend polar, since it's prolific enough that if you go to a gym, for example, it most of the treadmills will recognize it.

Edit: I shortened the long google link

I also am thinking of getting one since I'm convinced mfp isn't calculating my calories burned correctly. Hopefully someone can suggest a good one :)

I'm the 'instant gratification" type, soi I bought mine yesterday, (and used it for the first time today) at Big 5 sporting goods. It is made by Sharper Image, it tracks EVERYTHING, and it's on sale from $100 to $50. It has the chest strap, and I hardly even noticed it was there! I've only used it once, as I said, but so far so good. They also had some MIO's on sale. MIO makes GPS systems, and they are good quality, but I don't know about the HRM's.

It's $59 and free shipping and has the chest strap. You won't find a better deal! I don't know this company, I just did some google work. Also, Target has some for $70!
