I'm interested in learning more about the Vitamix blender and recipes... anyone have good, bad, ugly experiences? Is it really clean? Is it really easy? Are the recipes really yummy? All claims on their website :)

Thanks!

I use the BlendTec which is very similar. My friend uses the Vitamix and likes it very much. It is very powerful and can handle pretty much whatever you put in it. Making green smoothies (which is what so many people use it for) is an excellent way to get greens and a powerhouse of nutrients into your diet. Definitely worth the investment if you are serious about making some "serious" smoothies.

Also, yes - it is very easy. The hardest part is the prep work, which isn't even hard, just time-consuming. You don't even have to chop everything up before you throw it in. I put apples in my Blendtec (which is as strong as the Vitamix) and I just cut them in quarters. Or I will throw an orange in and just quarter that as well - and leave the peel on. It is fun to throw things in and see what you like and don't like. It's pretty amazing watching all of that stuff liquify.

My husband got me a vitamix a few years ago as a birthday present.

I use it everyday, sometimes twice a day.

It's the only product I've ever seen that's sort of "infomerical-y" that lives up to the hype 100%.

It doesn't blend things, it demolishes them.

I make soup, sauces, salad dressing, smoothies and use it as a prep tool.

Awesome blender, I LOVE mine! Recipes are tasty, and I just love the fact you can make ice cream and hot soup in it. AMAZING! I have had mine for about 4 years.

Cool huh? :D I believe its the friction in the motor, it heats up the soup to HOT HOT HOT! To make ice cream you need either ice or frozen fruit, but if you let it run long enough it would melt it and heat it up like soup...
