when i was in university, i participated in a weight loss study for the kinesiology department. i guess they wanted to see the effect of dairy protein in muscle growth, or something like that.
i had to eat two yogurts a day, and drink the "study drink" once immediately after working out (either cardio or cardio+strength training).
the study drink ended up being 1% chocolate milk, i think with sweetner, not completely sure.
i don't know the science behind it, but i guess the conclusion was chocolate milk IS good for you, so long as you're drinking it immediately after your workout.0 -
Well I have heard that chocolate milk is excellent post-workout if you are lifting weights.. it supplies your muscles with a flooding of glycogen and helps speed healing (best to consume within 15 minutes of completing your workout for maximum effectiveness).. also I can see the point of the pre-workout drink for that instant rush.. You would definitely work harder!0

I dont believe it. Dairy at those times I do agree with, as it has carbs, protein, and calcium.
I dont ever read anything about weight loss that comes from a magazine like those. They are not verry accurate a lot of the time, and promote fad diets.
I would stick with some milk, or low sugar yougurt. Has amazing benefits and doesnt have all the added sugar0 -
YAY.....nothing like DRINKING 630 (or even 400) calories a day. Ummmm no thanks - that is irresponsible journalism at it's highest point- or should I say it's lowest.
One choc milk post work-out- possibly but there are others ways to help recovery. But THREE a day? Nope.
I prefer to think of drinking a lot calories as a negative- and it seem the CDC agrees. I also think this is a much more credible source.

I drink 2% with Ovaltine right after a workout. Fewer calories, plus loads of vitamins and minerals, and only once to keep cals low; I also don't like to drink my cals but for this I'll make an exception!0

I don't have to read it to advise you on this my friend: think about your HEALTH as in health in the LONG RUN of your life. AVOID all milk products to lose weight. MIlk is only good for baby cows. The hormones in cows milk are designed to make a calf grow hundreds a pounds in a short period which is bad for humans! Try Almond milk...they have it as low as 40 calories a cup and now Silk makes one in chocolate which I use sparingly due to calories but you can get clever and mix 3/4 vanilla or plain w/ the chocolate and it tastes FANTASTIC..try it w/ a NON whey protein powder for a smart start to your day! Best wishes from the Personal Trainer Marian0

Yep - three glasses of chocolate milk a day is ALOT of calories.... maybe every once in a while it's okay for me, but that's it.0
