HRM

I did the "400 calorie" trail on my NordicTrac treadmill tonight while wearing my HRM.

I KNOW the machines aren't accurate as far as calories burned, but I am just curious as to how far off do you usually notice your HRM is from your machine?

My calories burned per my heart rate monitor was 250ish... the machine told me 396. That's a HUGE difference. I wore my watch specifically for that reason.

Do you find that you get that large of a gap?

I based my burn off of the watch. I'm thinking I should probably invest in a little better one, though.

I don't know about machines, I don't have access to them, but with the MFP site, I saw a huge difference in what it was telling me via the exercise data base and my HRM (much lower, unfortunately), which is one of the better HRMs out there. I imagine the HRM would be more accurate, since it is keeping track of the actual effort put into the activity, rather than set stats programmed into the machine.
