Question for those of you who reached your goals and returned to maintenance level calorie intake.........
Did you put back on the weight you lost!?? Or did you manage to keep it off even with the calorie increase!?
My calorie increase will go from 1380 to 1880 when I return to maintenance level (if I reached my goal weight) and I wanted to know if its possible to keep the weight off by consuming more!??
I have lost 7lbs in 3 weeks consuming between 1000 and 1300 calories a day, I am always under and would always AIM to be under even on 1880.........but I just wanted some comments from those of you who have done it, or are using maintenance atm!??
Thanks in advance

Maintenance does work. I didn't gain any weight while I was on it. I would suggest you still weigh yourself every few days and make adjustments as needed.0

If you are getting close to maintenance (within 10-15 pounds) you should change your goal to lose 0.5lbs/week this will give you an additional 250 cals/day and help prepare you for the increase in calories leading to maintenance.0

I have 7lbs to go till I get to my goal.............which is 14 lost in total0

Start preparing for maintenance now by going to 0.5lbs/week, this will give you 1630 cals to work with.0 -

Go with Erics advice - you should gradually increase calories until your weight remains stable, not jump it all in one go!0 -

Could I do this once I hit maintenance instead!???
Hit 154lbs then increase calories SLOWLY!?0 -

You could wait, but the less weight you have to lose the smaller your caloric deficit should be. this helps your body from burning muscle instead of fat for fuel. As you will have less fat to burn your body will look for other sources of fuel i.e. muscles, which you want to avoid as losing muscle mass will slow your metabolism down.
Why do you want to wait?0 -
I also was too scared to go to maintenance, so when I hit my goal weight (2 1/2 years ago), I set my calories up to lose .5 lb a week. And I always eat my exercise calories. I ended up losing about 2 lbs. a month, just like it said I would. So mainenance worked for me. This time I am going to go to .5 loss when I am about 4 lbs from my goal. I'd recommend it.0

Great advice! I'll be trying that soon here. My wedding is in just over 3 weeks. . .I'm still losing but I don't need to lose much more or else my dress won't fit!0

Because Id like to loose the other 7lbs in less than 4 weeks, I will still have excess fat though....my BMI is 27, should be below 25 it says my ideal weight is 9.5-10stone but im happy with 11.....0
