Okay I am new to the site but not to weight loss. I lost about 150lbs almost 10 years ago. Over the past 5 uears I have managed to gain almost 40 pounds back. I have started keeing my food journal and exercising. Since my changes to my eating and exercise I have only lost a total of 4lbs.
I try to add healthy snacks into the day but an not having the weight loss I was hoping to see for all the changes I have made. Any suggestions?

hi there and welcome to MFP.
4lbs to me is a lot, so you joined in January?? I think that's a great achievement. I've lost 23lbs in 51/2 months, so I've lost approximately on average 1lb per week, but not really because some weeks I didn't lose and sometimes I stayed the same weight for weeks at a time. You probably already know having had great success in the past that losing 1lb a week is the best way to go in order to keep weight off. When you lost weight previously you had a LOT more to lose, so your initial weight loss was probably greater. If it was me I'd be thrilled, because most importantly you've started to be healthy again and watch what you're eating. I know when we start out on these weight loss journeys, we just want to get that weight off NOW, but it takes a while to put it on so it will take some weeks to get it off. I think you're being hard on yourself and you should be proud of your accomplishment. Is there anything in particular that you're struggling with? I'd like to help if only to offer support etc, I really think you're doing great.0 -
I'm sure you didn't gain the 40lbs back over night, you can't expect to lose it overnight either. Just keep logging and working out and the weight will catch up with you. It's a life long change, you just have to stick with it0

Well, since your diary is private, and we don't have any specific info about what your regimen actually is, we can't really offer any advice on what you should be doing.
That said, this isn't a race. If you are losing according to the goal you set when you set up your account, then you are doing exactly what you should be doing. If not, then we would need more info to be able to help.0 -
If you just joined this month that means you've lost a little over 1 pound per week. That's a great rate of loss, I wouldn't feel bad about that. Some people can lose 2 pounds per week, but that's pretty fast and it's hard for a lot of people to do in a healthy way. Changing habits is great for you but it won't make the weight melt off overnight. You have to be patient and persistent. It will come off, but it takes some hard work. (It's taken me 3 months to lose 12 pounds and I'm totally happy with that!)0
