Great article for everyone, but especially for New Year's Resolution newbies... "teaser" to the article posted below:

"January is the natural reset point for people -- it's the beginning of the year. The holidays are over. It's a natural time for people to make a change and a shift in their life," he said.

The yearly ritual begins with newbies flooding the gym.

"Within the first three weeks, they fade away from the goal or the intensity of what they're committing to," Littrel said. "From what I see, it takes 28 days to create a habit. They're quitting before the 21st day."

Their biggest complaint: They don't see any results.

CNN.com asked fitness experts why we don't see changes despite best efforts at the gym, and how to reboot our fitness routine.

Wow.... HOpe you're doing fine
That is a very truthful article and kind of sad to admit that I was probably one of them probably 2 yrs ago. :blushing: Am actually glad I started with this new lifestyle a week before Christmas.

It may have taken a while to see big changes in my weight, but I felt immediate changes in my mood and energy level. That's what kept me going even if I felt kind of let down. If nothing else, I felt better, and I wanted to keep that up.

Yeah, same here. I started this to lose weight, but I've seen such drastic changes in my mood that now quite frankly I don't care if I gain weight, as long as I keep feeling this good! The scale doesn't matter anymore.

Agreed! I started this to drop the weight but its slow going . . . not discouraged though, due to increased energy, and feeling healthier and stronger. The loss of weight is a bonus at this point.

I have been doing really well all this month and I haven't seen any results. I'm ok with that because if I stick with it I will eventually. Thanks for posting the article :)

Good timing with the article. Thanks. I have no loss for 2 weeks and was getting pretty discouraged. Anything to help me stay the course.
