Well, start tracking your food. ;-)
I'll tell you, be honest with yourself. If you over induldge one day, make sure to note it down in the tracked food. This way you are accountable.
But know that there may be a day or so each month where you eat more than you should. As long as you're eating less and exercising more, the cumlative(total) effect of less calories in + more calories burned should ensure that you lose weight.
Having mini goals is nice, helps keep you on track.
So be realistic, but track your goals. And if you want, weight yourself and track that everyday you. It shows a really nice graph which you can print out. Again, helps you be accountable.
And if you haven't already, maybe see if there is a gym or exercise class that you can join.
I'm sure that you're well on your way to becoming the stronger, faster, slimmer you.0
