Does anyone ever save calories for the weekend? I plan to do a pretty heavy workout tonight before going away for a girls weekend tomorrow. If I don't eat my extra calories tonight, is it safe to say I can have a little extra tomorrow?

I try to look at my calories from a week's perspective. If I go over one day, I make it up the next day. As long as I'm close to under my weekly goal then I'm good.

I always like a day once in a while where I'm not so strict on myself if you got the cals in the bank it won't do you any harm to use them do a heavy workout when you get back too it all helps x

I don't save my calories for the weekend, but every now and then I'll have a cheat meal on Saturdays... So perhaps that's similar. What you're really referring to is actually called "zigzagging" calorie intake. Just type it into google; there's tons of info out there. I don't think eating a bit more one day is going to kill you. :) No worries, but maybe you should burn those calories off through exercise? Then you won't feel so guilty about having a treat.
  • I have always been told that the only thing that matters is achieving a calorie deficit over time... so one day really shouldn't hurt you. If you've been a good girl all week, I think you owe it to yourself to be a little naughty :-).

mathmatically you can eat less one day and more the other.

I say enjoy your weekend away but don't go overbroad.
  • well this sounds kinda sad, but I actually put my calorie deficit into microsoft excel every day, with the goal of having a deficit of 3,500 a week (3,500 calories = 1lb of fat). So if I'm over one day for example I know how much of a deficit I need to aim for on the other days. It gives me piece of mind anyway!!!
