I was at around 900 cals yesterday since I was sick, is it okay to go over a tiny bit today? I've also been under almost everyday this week.

Yes, going over you daily calories goal is fine every once in a while. It would be a problem if it was everyday. Being sick yesterday, you need it more now. :flowerforyou:

    Hope you feel better.

Yes. You should be at at least 1200 a day, so going over sometimes is not a bad thing.

If you are hungry, then yes, it's definitely okay to go over. If you haven't been feeling well but are now getting better, listen to your body and eat! :o) It won't put a damper on your weight loss.

calories are not rollover minutes lol try to stay under like anyother day
  • I think that if you're truly hungry it's OK to go over a bit. Don't starve yourself, not good for you and definitely not helpful for weight loss. Better to satisfy the hunger in one day than to keep starving. So no, you don't have to stay under every day.

Actually, they kind of do act like roll over minutes. Technically, since we try to lose by a weekly basis, our main goal should be to get the right amount of calories by the end of the week.

your daily calories are based on your goals --- go to tools and see what how many calories you use (based on how many calories you need just sit and breathe all day. I take a "rest" day once a week -- this is a day that I don't exercise because i'm training for my first triathlon. Any way, on that "rest" day, I eat the amount of calories my basic calories would be - I do this because I A: I'm use to eating more per day because of my training and B: I'm trying "rest" my body and let my muscles re-coup --- I don't think this can happen if I'm not feeding my bod..

Another thing --- when you are sick, you will notice that your heart rate speeds up a little bit and that's your body fighting of any infection.....that's energy and that's burning calories. Plus I think if you are hungry when sick, or right after being sick, your body is asking to be fed.

Eat a little more but eat smart. You can eat a lot of vegies for little calories

listen to your body...if you feel extra hungry today then it's ok to eat a bit more, but don't just eat more calories "because you can"

if i were you, i would just resume my normal eating habits and stick to my set calorie goal with disregard to yesterday's food intake. it's water under the bridge.

I pay more attention to my average. As long as you don't BS yourself then you'll do fine.

As long as you're under your BMR, you should still lose weight. And you should really try not to go too far under 1200 calories or else you will go into starvation mode and actually put on more fat as your body starts saving the calories. I've actually found that it helps me lose weight if my diet fluctuates between 1200-1400 cals a day (my BMR is 1700). Having one or two days a week be a little more isn't going to hurt, especially when your body is really telling you it's hungry or when you're sick. Your immune system needs those calories. Don't deny it.

Okay, you know everything I know nothing. You are a genius and know absolutely everything there is to know about weight loss and I am a newb and should listen to everything you ever say, even though 90% of the other posts say its okay.

I bow to thee, mighty know-it-all

no need for sarcasm you asked I responded btw it is ok to have a high calorie/carb day every 5th day but only if youre doing serious training but hey what do i know
  • If you are hungry you should eat. I just got over bronchitis, and was hardly eating. Now I'm starving, especially since I started working out again. Listen to your body...it's hungry

P.S. Ignore Mr. Rude...some people need to stay off these forums :grumble:
  • I went over my 1200cal by 300 cal because i ate a salad without dressing. I was wondering if thats ok?
