Insomnia strikes and I'm stting here on my couch watching Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives on Food Network. Probably not the best show to be watching when you're trying to lose weight.... :)

Yes, it is very self-defeating. When I first started changed my eating habit to healthier options, DDD gave me a lot of temptations.

But now, six months later, I have the discipline to watch DDD as a passive observer, not an active participant, if you know what I mean.

Triple-D is an anthology of what NOT to eat. Avoid DDD when you first start out is my advice.

Nope! It's Motivational! If I see something on there I just have to have, I use it as motivation to really kick it up a notch in the gym. I've been taught that healthy nutrition is what you do 85% of the time. The other 15% of the time, you're suppose to enjoy your food. The problem comes when they do a show on places in your town and you go over the 15% rule. LOL Penguin in Charlotte really is as awesome as Guy showed it on tv. :blushing: Thankfully for my waistline, I moved out of Charlotte! Now, when my husband (Mike) and I watch it, and Mike mentions how tasty something from there would be, I start telling him how long on the treadmill or how many squats he would have to do in order to be able to eat it. Same with Man vs. Food on Travel Channel.

About 80-90% of the tv I watch when I'm home are food shows. Man Vs. Food is my Dave along with Chopped, Top Chef, Cake Boss, The Next Great Baker, Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, Foodography, _____ Paradise, Unwrapped, Dinner: Impossible, Best Thing I Ever Ate, Worst Cooks in America, Food Network Challenge, Unique Eats, and Cupcake Wars. I can't get enough. I'll even comb On Demand for any food shows I haven't seen if there aren't any on and I've watched everything on my DVR. I call it food porn. lol

I just love food, learning about food, and seeing what people do with it. But I've always kinda been that way. My mom is a total foodie and amazing chef (she's even studied in kitchens in France). So I was raised to love all things food, not just eating, but really learning about food itself. I worked in a specialty foods store for about four years that had a gourmet kitchen/catering business as part of the store and it was so amazing. I learned so much when I worked there and helped build the catering and holiday menus.

It doesn't really affect me other than wanting to try places when I travel. Like going to Chompie's (from a MvF ep) when we go to Arizona to visit family and I have four places from various shows that I'll be eating at in San Diego in July. But I'm normally watching TV in the evenings, which means I'm either making dinner, eating dinner and/or have just eaten dinner and/or dessert. So it's not like I'm sitting there starving and watching food shows. lol

thanks for the feedback, everybody! i guess it doesn't hurt to watch unless it causes temptation. then it's best to turn it off and get off my butt!!
