Ever since I started working out more and counting calories i've actually been less hungry than normal. Is anyone else like that? Is that okay? I'm not sure how I feel about that.

I'm not sure, but I feel less hungry on the days that I work out rather than the days I don't. I think part of it is because I work out in the morning, it changes the times of my meals a bit, and a later breakfast keeps me fuller for longer. But maybe it does have some appetite suppressing effect? I don't know!

Oh: Also, if it's been since you started counting calories, maybe that's caused you to alter your meals a bit... ie, maybe you're eating better foods, more protein, etc since you started paying attention?

Everyone is different. Speaking from an A&P perspective it is normal to not be hungry right after a workout because your blood flow is directed towards your skeletal muscles for the purpose of the workout. So your tummy isn't necessarily thinking clearly, to put it simply. But overall exercise should lead to a higher demand in calories due to energy expenditure. So I would think you'd be more hungry overall. Sorry for the Anatomy and Physiology speech. LOL!

i'm thinking it's because you're making healthier food choices so you're more conscious of what's going into your body & your body knows when it's gotten the nutrients that it needs. don't force yourself to eat if you're not hungry & enjoy having a day or so lower than your caloric goal so when you have a day that's over, you'll still be good :o)
  • My BF said "Your stomach is shrinking!" Thats why you arent as hungry..... So thats a good thing!
