Flaxseed oil VS ground

I recently read in Shape magazine that adding flaxseed oil to your diet can increase you lung capacity up to 50% after taking for three months. After researching a bit I'm getting conflicting info as to it's benefits and what form you should have it in.
Anyone have any thoughts? I know about the Omega-3 and fiber benefits, but anyone else hear about this whole lung capacity thing?
As well, which do you believe is better? I'm thinking it would be easier to sprinkle it on my oatmeal every morning, but again I hear the oil is better. I just don't know.
