Hello All,
I was wondering if any of you have used a plastic suit/sauna suit during workouts?? They are supposed to help you sweat a lot more, so in turn you would just be losing water weight. What do you think about that???? Do you think its worth it?

I have heard it just builds endurance as in lets you tolerate more heat and whatnot. You wont actually lose fat, water yes..a cheaper alternative-plastic garbage bag0

Yep...just water weight. You drink a glass of water after, and you're right back to where you were0

I wear a sweatshirt. Seems to get my heart rate up faster.0

A girl was wearing one on the elliptical in front of me today. Since I was in moisture wicking tee and shorts, and still dripping sweat, I can't imagine the swamp going on inside her suit!0

I can't imagine why anyone would even consider doing that. Risky health-wise. Sweat is the body's cooling mechanism and it certainly won't help with weight loss. Of course if you are dehydrated the scale will say less but that is not loss of real weight.0

Yea I was thinking along the same lines as everyone else. I don't want to pass out at the gym anytime soon, so i'm probably going to double up on the clothing & sweat it out that way
Thanx everyone!!!0 -
Sorry son, I can't hear you! I'M WEARING MY JACUZZI SUIT! :laugh:0

They are dangerous and pointless. They do nothing to promote weight loss, the thermal stress can put even a healthy person at risk of an acute event, and, lastly, they identify you as the dumbest person in the gym.
Wearing extra clothing to "sweat" more is not as dangerous, but it's just as dumb.0 -
yeah agreed. dont bother with it, lol.
research shows you dont burn more fat or anything...just taking an unnesary risk as Azdak mentioned.
I only wear shorts and a singlet to the gym...
then when im done, i have a cold shower...this in turn helps to further increase the "fat burning" benefits of a good workout, and your body will be working a little harder (hence use more energy - calories) to help keep you body temp up.
you wanna get cooler, not warmer. basically. lol.0
