Should I follow the meal plan the nutricionist gave me?* i

Today I visit the nutricionist for the 1st time, I wanted a healthy meal plan based on my needs. I m a college student that loves to eat healthy but wants to stay in shape. Im petite (short 5'2) The nutricionist told me be that if i followe the meal plan she gave me i wont gain weight. But im not sure about what she told me, because I've been following my meals as MFP established eating in 1,200 calories a day. The nutricionist gave me a meal plan of 2,200 calories a day!!! 3 meals with 3 to 4 snacks!! Since i joined MFP and made the meal plan for 1 month I lose 4 pounds with 1,200 cal meal . From 115 and now im at 111. The problem is that i dont know what to do!!
Is the nutritionist meal plan to high? 2,200?
Something that she told me was that i should not go under 110 pounds. Right know im at 111.

    I would think she would know what she is talking about but if you are reallly unsure I would call and ask her your questions.

    What is your ideal weight? The nutritionist may have given you that number to help you maintain based on your activity level and age. 111 sounds quite lean even though you are petite. You could try the new diet for a couple of weeks. If it is a healhty diet it may stoke your metabolism to make you burn fat faster!

  • Hi I am 320 and i lost 80 pounds so far and I exercise every morning for 40mins of cardio and this website tells me to have 2500-3000 calories a day and thats too much food for me. I eat 1200 to 1500 a day and I have been doing great...

    If she suggested you not go under 110, she's probably giving you a maintenance plan, not a weight loss plan. I would agree that at 5'2", you should probably not be under 110. Which means that if you intend to keep using MFP, you need to change your settings - and go back in and change your loss per week goal to 0 (maintenance). See where that puts you and make your decision from there.
  • Did you tell her you are trying to lose weight? If she knows that, she may give you a whole new diet plan. But if she believes that you should not go under 110 pounds, and you are already at 111, then I would recommend trying to maintain your weight if you don't have much of anything to lose. If you want MFP's help, just change your settings to Maintenance. The best thing to do is try the new diet for 1 or 2 weeks and see how it goes. If you end up gaining weight or simply don't like it, tell her! I'm sure your nutritionist will be willing to help you.

    Your situation is rare - you have a lot of weight to lose and MAY be able to withstand a much larger deficit (and faster rate of weight loss) than most people. The website gives you the numbers a) based on the info you entered when starting - so if they are inaccurate, you get inaccurate numbers. b) based on a maximum of 2 lbs/week loss goal, - because that is the max recommended by the most current nutrition & exercise research for MOST people.

    Does your nutritionist have a college degree in nutrition? Because I have a bachelor of science in dietetics (nutrition) and I can tell you that she is spot on. She has given you a maintenance plan. Your ideal body weight based on your height is 110 lbs. Therefore, the maintenance plan she gave to you is to maintain your current body weight.

    Best wishes to you! I think its great that you are trying to keep healthy while in college. Such a difficult task, but certainly doable! :)

    Yes, she has a degree in nutrition and dietetics. She told me that i have a good weight but im concerned that i may gain some weight (in my family there are many conditions related to obesity, diabetes and alzeheimer. I like eating healthy and exercicing but the problem is that when i study exercising gets hard!!!!!! I hope that with the meal plan she gave me i mantain myself!!!

    I would completely trust her then! She's your ticket to nutritional information as she is considered the "nutrition expert" by professionals. Good luck! Its wonderful that you are so conscientious! You will do well. :)

    You are losing weight, so the nutritionist is right if you want to stay basically at 115 lbs. She calculated your age, metabolism....so Eat up!

    Hi I will study dietetics soon, but anyways, I have had over 2 years experience in losing / adding weight (muscle weight) and 1200 sounds like wayyy to loooow. Seriously your diet should be around 1500 the lowest 1200 sounds like starving mode. My current weight loss (cutting) diet is of 2300 calories. Are you really active? And the meal plan she gave you must be maintenance like others have said.
    BTW if thats you on your pic then your body is in good shape already. You just need to do a little bit of weighted AB exercises and the belly area will be sexy ;)
