Hiya! I bought some Campbells Chicken Corn Chowder today and was wonder if there were any preservatives in it? Usually when looking at the ingredients, it will say something like "Antifantabulous (preservative)" to let you know, but it said nothing of the sort. I was going to share some with my Grammah, but I wouldn't dare feed her something that I wouldn't even let myself eat. Heeeelp? :)

Salt is often used as a preservative in foods, and there's usually a lot of salt in canned or frozen soups.

Are you tryin to eat clean? If so my rule of thumb is: If you can't read what printed on the label, I don't buy it and I don't eat it. They put alot of additives into foods that aren't created naturally by nature. It's man made, and if God didn't make it then y eat it?

It has Sodium Phosphate, Sodium Erythorbate, Sodium Nitrite. These are preservatives.
  • It’s a good assumption that everything you buy from the center aisles of grocery stores—things in boxes and cans that are shelf stable and do not require refrigeration—have preservatives. Homemade chicken and corn chowder would have poultry and dairy in it and would have to be refrigerated and even then would have to be eaten within a few days, not weeks or months. If the thing you’re buying can be safely consumed weeks and months after you purchase it, it has preservatives.
