Sunday's is hard for me bc my parents are pastors, so we are basically at church all day. I dont get to workout normally and we normally eat a huge lunch at a restaurant and its almost never diet friendly, but its not like we eat horribly. Sundays is harder than the rest of the week though.

my rest day was yesterday although I only have one cheat meal but don't workout. On sundays I always workout and already have...going out for a bike ride in a while!

If I don't get out first thing in the morning, I slack. Luckily today I was there when the gym opened and now that I had a good start, I am more likely to remain focused.
  • I feel like slacking but im going to remain focused on my goals.

I'm going to eat according to plan, but it's my rest day from exercise.

Sunday is my off day. I like to sit around and relax. Watch some football or whatever. I still try to keep my calorie count under my goal. Though next Sunday it's not going to be so easy!
  • Personally I don't take any days off from watching what I eat or from exercising. I feel too bad if I do :o/

Don't slack off!!! It's self-defeating. I think everyone is looking for someone to say it's okay to cheat. I personally don't think so. If you do, the guilt of the fleeting pleasure is often a reason to continue the self-defeating behavior. Just keep at the lifestyle change and allot yourself little treats here and there. If you work it into your daily calorie goal, it will work. But don't slack!!! If you want to eat something special, allow the calories for it. That way you don't feel defeated. Good luck.
  • i love sundays, today and saturday are the only days during the week when i can actually get to the gym in the morning, so i take full advantage of that, my best workouts all week are my saturday/sunday workouts. normally on week nights i stumble into the gym at like 7-7:30 pm coming straight from work, and try to get a workout in before i die from starvation and/or exhaustion. today i'll have time to do yoga, strength training, run for a while and then hit the hot tub! can't wait :D

I would save the slacking for superbowl Sunday. I'm heading to the gym.

I get up early enough to get my run in B4 church. I hear ya lil_vic ... I am a member of a Fundamental Baptist Church and it's two services and occaasionally a meal after one or both at someone's house for socializing. I don't want to slack on my food goals so I watch what and how much I eat and usually some woman will comment that I'm not eating enough. I jut say,"I'm trying to watch my girlish figure," and chuckle. They get the point and let it drop. This weight loss is an absolute imperative for me and I won't let anything or anyone dissuade me.

Never a slack moment here! Life is worth taking the time to analyze it. If I want to live a long and fulfilling life, I must sacrifice! All the bad things in my life must go. That includes all the bad food and habits.

I don't want to burn out so,in general, Sunday is a church/family/relax day for me.
Obviously, you can still do all of those things and still have a killer workout.

However, by the end of the week, multiple muscles groups are usually sore.
I may do some form of exercise but it is not like my regular workout and I try to moderate my diet accordingly to fit my activity level..

Of course, it's all about what works for you... Sunday might be the best day for you to have a great workout!

While I still watch my calories on the weekends, saturdays and sundays tend to be my rest days from the workweek/workouts. Sunday is my weigh in day, and I like to give myself the opportunity NOT to workout, but it is an option...usually saturday and sunday consists of research for school etc! I dont really allow a "cheat day" so to speak tho, if that happens, it will be easier to just keep "cheating"....i do, however, allow myself to enjoy things i wouldnt normally, just in great moderation :)

I do not take days off really.. i always watch my food and i do my daily round. I don't see why i should. When i am a day off, it does not matter if it is a wednesday, monday or sunday to me, it's not that i'm planning it :)

I never *plan* on a day being any different from any other day. I always intend to go for a run and stick to my calories, everyday, no matter what.

Now, due to my erratic work schedule some days morph into slack days, and that happens. A 16 hour work day means I don't get to go for a run, an open bag of chips and missed lunch leads to mindless snacking, and dinner at 5 and work ending at midnight leads to a late-night indulgence. It happens, it sucks, and I don't like, but I look forward towards a new day and I move on. But I never *intend* for it to happen. Slacker cheat days are unacceptable in my book!

I don't plan on a slack day-they just happen somedays...weekends are hard but I try to stay focused. If I go over a bit I don't freak out like I used to I just focus on the rest of the day and week. I log in everything I eat to the best of my knowlegde-this can get tricky when eating out or at friends houses. No one's perfect and you will go over somedays, if you can go work out to burn off extra calories.

My program continues year round. I got my body into this mess and I have to get it out. I went out yesterday with my girlfriends, had a nice meal, had a glass of wine, however this was after two miles jogging on the treadmill. I am 100% back on plan today. I will most likely hit the treadmill again today and Monday is chest & back.

It is easier to get back from a cheat meal than a cheat day, than a cheat weekend, than a cheat week....

definitely agree with that statement. It can so easily snowball. I remain focused no matter what day of the week it is. I stay at home with my kids all week & all weekend so there really isn't any party nights for me, or drinking at all for that matter. It makes it easier to keep at your diet when you don't have much of a social life, hehehehe :)

i definitely agree with the statement edorice said though. A cheat treat/meal is easier to come back from then an entire day of horrible eating. Especially if you do what she's done and workout prior to gain the extra calories. smart move.

Saturdays and Sundays are the days when I get to work out MORE than I normally do at the gym during the week. :)

Yeah, I can see that. For some folks, they can put in more time, have more time to themselves, or get in a double workout. Some of my mfp friends have a rest day during the week.

Gym doesn't have childcare on Sundays so that is usually out. If it were nicer outside I would throw the kids in the stroller and at least go for a walk or something. I do always try to stick to my calorie guideline.

I think it's important to try to keep your eye on the prize, even on the weekends. Maybe especially on the weekends, because our natural tendency can be to sit in front of the tv with a snack and a soda. Or is that just me? :blushing:

I'm not going to stay completely on-track today because we'll be out and I can't plan ahead what we'll have for lunch. But I know this, so I ate a smaller breakfast and I plan to work out when we get home. I think it's ok to give yourself a little leeway on the weekends, but you can't go completely crazy and undo all the hard work you did all week. That's not being fair to yourself, you know?
