Was up at 6:15 this morning to do my week 5, workout 2. Eight minutes running, 5 walking, 8 running. I did it, but that second 8 minutes was killer. 20 minutes straight on Friday here I come (hopefully). It was a beautiful morning to run though. 65, slight breeze... Have a great day everyone!

Even though my knee hurt a little this morning I still went out. I think we 3.5 miles in about 35 minutes. Afterwards, we stood around and stretched and bs'd.

Good job Margie and Sherry! Enjoy your rest, Shannon.

Kechie, you've got 90s--we've got 60s and rain. I almost froze to death last night at my son's baseball game. I just wasn't prepared for the cold and wind. It's June, for crying out loud! :grumble:

I'm staying in on the treadmill today in order to avoid it all... :ohwell:

Oh what I wouldn't give for just a cool breeze! We were at my son's baseball game last night and it was 100 degrees at 6pm and 200% humidity. Sitting under the shady tree not moving a muscle and sweat was just pouring off of us! Miserable! Can you send some cool air our way please!!??

I'll take about 10 degrees from those 90 degree plus people. We actually have very nice weather (if it was spring)- 70-80 for the rest of the week. Unfortunately, I'd like to go to the water park since we go season passes and we can't even do that because the water's freezing!

I just got done with a 7 mile run! I've NEVER even dreamed of doing 7 (until last week when I hit 6.5). I felt great - just 1 little break to take a 3 year old to the bathroom. I"m seriously considering a half marathon the beginning of Sept.:noway: The race is the same weekend as my son's first day of sunday school though:grumble: I guess we'll have to see how it all works out!

My hubby wants me to run a 1/2 marathon in August, but 7 is the most I've run too. I don't know if I can work up to 13 by then. :noway:

Good job on your run today! :flowerforyou:

I looked up a training schedule for it. A 7 mile run is at the end of the 7th (out of 12) week of training. The farthest the training says to run is 10 before the race. I guess if I can get there, maybe I can do. I think I have until the end of july to decide for sure.

I hope you stay on track!!

do you base your rest day on your upcoming long run days? how do you decide when to rest?

I used to have 2 rest days (Mondays and Wednesdays) but lately I've been taking it day by day. For example, last week I ran 4 days straight and on the 5th day I still felt like running so I went.
I'm trying to listen to my body and this morning it told me it was tired and needed a rest. When I used to plan my rest days, I'd wake up feeling great and then I'd feel guilty the whole day because I didn't exercise. So I'd try to calm my guilty feeling with food. It doesn't make sense but that's what happened.
I always do much better with my eating when I've worked out and that's why I'm trying to do something everyday.
If I do have a long run planned, I try to take it a little easier the day before by doing the elliptical or a DVD instead.

Very logical answer!! Thank you! I am going to base my schedule on this new training program I am starting. don't do my first run with them until Monday, so for this week I am chasing after those nasty extra calories!!

I have been eating non-stop today - healthy, but continuous! sooooo I guess it is not going to be a rest day for me!!!!

Way to go!!! Stick with it!! Remember your body can handle more than your brain! Fight through the pain and it will be the most rewarding thing you have ever done for yourself!!!
Just for you the special banana dance!!

Thanks for the banana dancer! If I run the whole 20 minutes next time, can I have a chorus line of them?

This weekend is my last "race" until the end of September. I'll keep running. I'll even start training for my half in July. With the NC humidity, "racing" in August will not be possible for me. I'm doing a half in November.

I ran 7.5 miles this morning. My knee was hurting a little bit, so I took it easy. But, I have my big run coming up in a month and I can't wait:bigsmile:
