goals? 5K?

So I'm having trouble setting short/long term goals. For example, is run/jogging a 5k completely by may reasonable? As of today I can jog a quarter mile (outside) without stopping.
Any other suggestions when it comes to goal setting, deadlines, and motivation? Maybe I just don't have a clear enough idea of the me I want to be, but i'd like to see some stepping stones to get me there!
