So I've been dieting since June 2010. I was Ms. Healthy Eater for 6 months (until the end of December) and barely every had a sweet, it was few and far between when I would splurge. Before that, I loved my sweets! I loved to make baked goods and enjoy them, loved Blizzards form Dairy Queen and other ice cream treats. I had a MAJOR sweet tooth. One example was that during maternity leave (son was born Sept. 09) I at a bag of candy corn in about a day. And that was because I had gestational diabetes and had to avoid them for three months prior to keep the baby's weight down. I tested my blood sugar and it was barely above 100 an hour after I ate a big chunk of it so I was fine.

ANYWAY, now I'm on a break. I'm still watching what I eat and I've resolved to never gain the weight back. But I am still eating some sweets since I didn't allow myself any for 6 months. So when I do, I get THE WORST stomach ache! My stomach can't handle the sweets anymore! I'm SO SAD! I can't enjoy my baked goods anymore! But this weekend, I made some chcolate chip cookies and of course when I eat a couple, I get a stomach ache! Well, because of that stomach ache and the small cookie size, I've lost 4 pounds this weekend. I know that this isn't a good plan to lose weight, but I may use it for another day or two and lose a few more pounds.

The point of this is to find out if anyone else can't eat sweets like they used to. I expect that this is probably a normal thing. But if anyone knows the biology of it, I'd like to hear it.

I can relate. There are tons of articles out there about ills of eating sugar. When I ate a lot of sugar on Christmas I felt sick. I have cut out even more this month, but did eat birthday cake today for my sister in law (although homemade with HErshey's dark cocoa) I had a bit of a stomach but drank a lot of water and went to work out. I think I burned it off!

You might try some more natural sweeteners - stevia and agave nectar. The Eat Clean magazines usually have a few desserts that don't include white sugar in them.
