Does anyone know what the recommended sodium intake should be per day? I never really paid much attention to it before. Thanks!

You can track this in your food diary. Go to settings and add it. I never paid attention either, and am shocked by how much I am consistently over. My goal is 2500 (mg?) of sodium with a 1460 calorie diet.
  • I just added this column to my food diary today. My doctor just prescribed blood pressure medicine for me last week, which was kind of a shock. I have always been borderline, but this was the first time I was told I needed medical intervention. I am now even more determined to make healthy choices that keep me off of medication and away from side effects. But, it means that I am also restricted to 1500 mg of sodium per day. Looking through my food diary from this month has been sobering. If I don’t prepare my own food (ie I eat out or eat something packaged), it is almost impossible to be under 2000, let alone 1500.
  • Thank you!
I just added it to my diary this morning and over the past couple of days I barely went over 2000. I'm not a salter but it's the restaurant foods that have all the sodium. (Gotta have good flavor or you'll never eat there again, right?!?! ha)
You guys were very helpful, thank you.
