Breakfast?

I know everyone (EVERYONE) says breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But, me and one of my new friends, can't do breakfast. I will be physically ill if I eat ANYTHING with in 3 hours of waking. I even have to wait an hour for my coffee fix. I'm normally up around 6 in the morning. I am able to drink (usually an hour after waking) and have been drinking Carnation Breakfast Essentials. I also eat my lunch between 10 and 12 (depending if I work that day).
I just want to know if that will harm my weight loss in anyway? ... or if anyone has tips for those of us that can not, or do not like to eat breakfast ... any input is welcome!!

If you cannot eat, I would suggest you do a protein shake. Most mornings this is my breakfast, 4oz water, 4oz skim milk, 1 scoop ON's protein powder, 1/2 banana, 1/2c. frozen mixed berries, Blend and enjoy, just like a fruit smootie.

I would also suggest that you have a mid morning snack, something between "Breakfast" and lunch. You should be just fine.

To a degree, I know how you feel. Sometimes I'm just not hungry in the morning. I try to at least have a yogurt and piece of toast...just something to get you going right away in the morning.

I also agree with the person about the protein shake. You have to put something in your stomach shortly after waking.

I used to be the same way. Eating anything within a few hours of waking up made me feel really queasy. But when I decided to make my lifestyle change, lose the weight and eat healthier I knew that breakfast was a key factor to that. So I started really small, usually with something like plain cereal or a Special K cereal bar. Eventually my body got used to that early morning food and I was able to start eating better and better breakfasts. Now if I go too long after I wake up without eating breakfast I can feel it. So I always try to eat at least a little something within an hour or so of waking up, even if I can't get a normal breakfast in in that time.
  • I'm pretty sure this applies to ladies too, but the guy training me in the gym recommended having a high protein snack/meal early when you get up....consisting of a good meat, and some nuts. I've been doing combinations of a couple of ounces of lean steak or skinless/boneless chicken with about an ounce of cashews or other nut.

It sounds nasty, and I'm not a eat-in-the-morning person anyway, but it has seemed to help :)
