I have a calorie goal of 1,480 everyday. When I list my exercise and calories lost, it tells me that I get extra calories to eat that day. Should I eat those calories I just burned or keep it as is? I want to lose weight and I'm new to this whole thing.

Eat some of them. You want to make sure you're eating at least 1200 calories a day so you don't go into starvation mode. Make sure when you workout your body is getting enough nutrition!

ThIs site expects you to eat them, though I do not as part of my routine, unless I am hungry (which is rare). My daily allowance (before exercise is around 1400).

The problem I have seen with exercise calories is that it is too easy to overestimate calories burned, then eat them and ..... You do not lose the weight expected because you are eating more than you need.

I have seen some on here who will eat half of their excercise calories to account for overestimating calories burned though exercise as well as underestimating calories eaten ( because of portion control etc).

I typically eat most of them. But some of my workouts are huge--like 1000 calories. So I still have a deficit of 200-400 calories, but I don't feel hungry.

I also figure that part of learning to eat right (so that I can keep the weight off once it's off) is learning that you can eat more on days you work out, and less on days you don't.

    Good luck.

yea, I noticed on this site that if you enter your exercise routine, it over estimates the calories burned, so I just look on my bike what it is and enter it.

Taking the calorie reading off of the equipment is rarely ever accurate, unless is asks for your age & weight. Read your owners manual to find out what criteria it is using for its calculations. Normally it is using the weight, age & fitness level of the ideal healthy person. Your weight & age factor into the equation (which this site does for you), so you are likely not getting accurate info in your exercise diary.

Take a peek here to get an idea what an accurate number would be for your given exercise activity:
